This unit was primarily focused on English grammar, which simply explained is the structure of the language. It is very important for a teacher to be able to understand all the components of a sentence and be able to differentiate them, as well as being able to teach students the major differences so that they can be able to structure correctly their sentences, and use grammar the right way.
A simple sentence can be separated into various and different parts of speech and each part plays a significant role in the meaning of the sentence as a whole. Furthermore, in the English language, as with most languages, grammar has many exceptions, some of the exceptions can be explained and some must be memorized by both the teacher and the students.
A teacher must be able to know in depth the grammar of the language she/he is teaching in order to make learning much easier for students, and to be a trustworthy source of knowledge for her/his learners.
