This is a truly interesting unit! Even as a native speaker who has been speaking English since I was young, I did not know of the term "parts of speech'. While I know what noun, verb, adjective and adverb are, this is the first time I am introduced to terms like "definite article", "transitive verbs". "intransitive verbs" etc. Through this, I came to realise that I simply "know" certain things such as using "a uniform" instead of "an uniform" but I did not know that it was due to the consonant "y" sound. This is just one of the examples of the new discoveries made. This unit also enables me to relate to the difficulties that students are experiencing. I have learnt that certain concepts which I have taken for granted may be very hard for non-native speakers to grasp. The way the materials are presented also provide me with insights on how I can plan my lessons. This unit is certainly very useful to me.
