I wrote about the European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages (and translated it to Chinese) for my thesis, where it also closely related to The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, therefore some of the definitions are quite familiar to me. From what I've learned, the culture determines most of the learning process. The EPOSTL and CEFR, for example, are not widely used in Asian countries like China or Indonesia due to the cultural differences of learning. The teachers and learners roles are also different based on the culture, as stated in this unit, I believe that having a good understanding on who is the student will be a great help. This unit has helped me refresh and relearn about the roles of teachers and learners.
