This unit looks at the past tenses that make up the English Language. As mentioned before there is a total of twelve tenses in the English language, the past tenses are composed of the past simple, the past continues, the past perfect and the past perfect continuous. The unit covered the forms and the usages of each one of these tenses, so that teachers can become familiar with them in order to be able to explain thoroughly the rules , the structures and when those tenses are used to their students. As with the present tenses that were covered before, the past tenses have specific activities targeted for the learning of those tenses, so that students can start talking and using it in class, and therefore get more used to talking about past events. Teachers are the only source of correct English in the classroom where students will spend a lot of their time learning the language, which means that teachers have an obligation, as a role model, to be fluent and to know all the rules and technicalities that make up the English language.
