While studying for this course and learning how to teach English as a new language, nothing reveals the difficulties of teaching more than seeing the methodologies being used in real life. This unit gave two teaching examples of the same subject and demonstrated correct teaching methods that had the students more engaged and willing to learn, versus an unsuccessful lesson in which the students were confused and too intimidated to answer the teacher. The class is heavily dependent on the readiness, atmosphere and knowledge of the teacher. As shown in the second video, when the teacher was ready, more interested in the students and gave more encouragement, they were more willing to answer despite if they answered incorrectly. It was easy to tell that they felt more safe and comfortable versus the first lesson where if a student gave an incorrect answer, they were not lead to the correct one, they were just told they were wrong in front of their peers, with can deter them from answering questions in future classes. No one is going to be a perfect teacher and not every lesson is going to be a great success, but being prepared and making the students feel comfortable and active in the classroom and can help make any lesson more successful.
