This unit reviewed the basics of grammar and parts of speech. With all of the complex rules and exceptions to this rules it is no wonder English can be such a daunting language to learn. For example, with verb tenses there is the base, past simple (ed), past participle (ed) and present participle (ing) but even with those four categories there are words that doing follow these rules that the endings associated with it. One of the take away's from this lesson for me is to find a concise way to teach these rules as there are so many and if a student feels overwhelmed they may not be motivated to continue.
