This particular unit was mainly focused on the more technical aspect of being a teacher, in other words, this unit provided information on the different methodologies that exist or have existed in the past regarding teaching and learning. Each of those methodologies has its foundation on either the nature part of intelligence or the nurture part. As far as we all know, the Nature versus Nurture debate has been going on for so many years, and there is not a simple answer than can define intelligence or where does it come from. The idea is to use both of those approaches, therefore to use both nature and nurture in our theories, because they both play a very significant role in the learning process. Learning is a complex concept that has many factors facilitating it or hinder it, as teachers we have to be aware of all those factors, or at least most of those factors, in order to be able to provide the best environment possible for the students' learning process. All the methodologies mentioned in this unit, have their own pros and cons, and combining the major advantages of all of them could have really good results in the knowledge of a new language. However, there is one particular methodology that is highly recommended and used for this specific teaching of the English language, which is the ESA methodology, which stands for Engage- Study- Activate. The pros outweigh the cons, and therefore it is very effective to be used in the classroom for all levels of students. Furthermore, this ESA methodology can be 'changed' accordingly in order to make the lesson more fun and pleasant, and avoid having predictable lessons. Helps teaching and teachers to keep things more interesting in class while achieving maximum teaching outcomes.
