In English there is a total of twelve tenses, there are three main categories of tenses ( past, present, and future), in each of these we can find another four tenses that once learnt, they are used by us to specify and indicate the exact time or periods that each action took place. This unit was focused on the Present Tenses which are made up of the Present Simple, the Present Continuous, the Present perfect, and the Present Perfect Continuous. The chapter explains the usage and structure of each one of them which is vital for the teacher to know and understand in order to be able to explain it to the students in a thorough manner and be able to achieve fluency and improvement in the language of her/his students. Furthermore, I believe is very important for the teacher to know which activities to use in the activate stage in order for them to be appropriate for the Tense that is being learnt, taken into consideration also some other factors that are significant in the classroom environment, such as the timing of each activity; teachers must prepare and calculate the time they have for each activity in order to be able to complete it and avoid running out of time. Another factor is students' age and level of knowledge of the language, this is equally important as the teacher has to give an activity that will match the level at which her students are. More factors that need to be taken into consideration is the class size and of course the culture and backgrounds of students, as this is a very sensitive topic, teachers have to always be aware of their students background and culture so that they can talk about things that students will find interesting and not in any way discriminating. Last but not least, teachers have to do their best to achieve maximum student talk time and make sure their students are using the language freely in an open-ended way.
