This unit has stressed not only the multitude of roles of the teacher but also of the students themselves. Becoming a teacher includes having to wear an abundance of different “hats” and learning how to adapt to the classroom atmosphere depending on the subject or even the day. While in some insistences the teacher may need to take an on the role of the monitor if the class is in needed of more guidance, I also see the importance of knowing how to step back, become the facilitator and let the class lead the lesson or discussion. By doing this the teacher can also learn information and techniques from the students that they would have never originally considered. The unit also emphasized the importance of knowing the difference language levels and the common European framework used to describe the given levels and how thus can vary depending on the cultural normalities associated with teaching. While teaching will always be one of the main focuses, it is the students that truly matter when becoming an educator.
