In this unit, I have learnt many aspects of the methods, theories and techniques for teaching to TEFL students. I enjoyed the many examples given for the ESA method used in today’s ESL classroom. I will incorporate those into my teachings. It seems that this is the best and most accurate way to teach students. The ESA method helps to fully engage the students in each part of the lesson. Engaging students in naming vocabulary words about a certain topic and having students answer more complex questions to find the answers. Preparing for the study phase helps them to break the ice and talk with classmates in various activities before activating and presenting what they learned as well as silently working on a worksheet to test their own knowledge. The different lessons within the ESA method is more flexible. The teacher can use this as an outline to each lesson plan. By knowing the topic first hand, we as teachers can then construct the perfect ESA lesson based on how we want to engage the students and activate their learning with fun activities. I really enjoyed this part of the unit. It has helped me become more organized in my teachings and how to structure the lesson.
