Unit 10 uses contrasting videos of a teacher teaching the same material to a group of students first in an ineffective way, and then, in a much more professional and effective manner. The first video emphasizes multiple poor teaching techniques such as: being unfriendly, having a poor attitude, providing poor explanations, poor instructions, etc. The students in the first video are also confused, intimidated, and less willing to participate. The second video demonstrates a significant improvement in the atmosphere of the classroom. In the second video, the teacher now behaves in a much more friendly professional manner which results in a much happier and active classroom. Additionally, virtually all aspects of the teaching performance in the second video are excellent and well done. The teacher speaks much more slowly and clearly, he makes the point of the lecture clear and easy to understand, the students are made to feel comfortable and given many opportunities to elicit the target language which is explained clearly and simply to everyone before being expected to participate. The students are much happier throughout the second lesson and are all able to use the target language which was the point of the class in the first place.
