Unit 20 covers the area of troubleshooting related to TEFL and TESOL training and begins by making suggestions about how teachers should approach the first class lesson and the differences that there are between New Groups and Existing Groups. As always the unit describes a number of useful activities that can be used throughout the lesson, particularly the warm-up. The unit goes on to give advice to TEFL teachers as what to do in other problem areas such as: having classes with groups of students who are clearly at different levels, having large classes, having students who are using their native language too much, how to approach reluctant students, and the importance of using listening texts (and what to do if the students have difficulties with listening exercises).
