In this unit, the form, usages, and teaching ideas of the four present tenses are covered. We use the present tense to talk about something that is going on now or that is true now and any time.
The Simple present tense used to express habits and general facts. The Present continuous/progressive indicates an action happening now or at the time of speaking, and to talk about the temporary action that’s not necessarily at the time of speaking. Present perfect for repeated actions, actions where the time is not important, and actions that began in the past but is not finished yet. And the Present perfect continuous is to talk about ongoing actions where both the process and the result are important.
Each tense indicates the connection between two or more time periods or the exact time an activity occurred, which underlines the importance of English grammar tenses. They can be used to create different meanings from the same verbs and help to anchor the listener understand the meaning behind your story.
