This unit highlights the advantages and disadvantages of using a course book and relative material during lessons. This material, which would include a teacher's book and extra course material is good for new teachers and to follow a specific list of points to follow and grammar points to teach. Although this can become predictable and boring for some students, and someones they may not be suitable for the entire group. It would be a good idea for teachers to mix and match. Use some prepared material but also use some authentic material chosen based on the level of the students and the topic and goal of the lesson. Overall, it is important to remember to try and cover all skills which need to be developed (listening, reading, speaking and writing).
