In unit 3 we learned that there are many method which each one focus on special aspect of language .For example : Grammar translation method focus on one to one translation from L1 to L 2 and finding equivalents between two language .the main problem with this method is that teacher should be proficient in L1 and student learns about the language instead of language itself. Audio lingualism: This method now is considered as an old fashion method. Focuses are on repetition and habit forming and being conditioned to use language correctly. However, its language drill still is useful for low level students. This method is based on behaviorist theories. Present,practice ,production method :known as PPP the teacher presents the context and situation then explain and demonstrate the meaning then student practice the language in controlled way and they will be creative .it is effective in low level and it is teacher centered method . Task based learning :in this method teacher focus just only about task and when it is necessary , he gives some information about language . Communicative language teaching: in this method instead of grammar and vocabulary, teacher stresses the importance of language function such as inviting and agreeing and suggestion … CLT require students to use language in real life situation – in role play and simulation .in this method emphasis is on completion of task rather than language . Community language learning : known as CLL , students sit in circle shape and teacher in outside the circle and students talks about every subject they would like and teacher monitor and help students whenever needed . it is student centered method . The silent way : in this method teacher says less and the only expectation is on students who should discover the language instead of remembering and repeating what have learnt . Teacher use color rods for grammar points and intonation and storytelling for showing physical object . Suggestopaedia: In this method students are in comfortable and stress free environment and teacher avoid any traumatic experiences on students .teacher review previous lessons and present and explain new lesson and finally with a music played in back ground students practice the dialogue. The lexical approach: emphasis is on learning words and phrases than grammatical structure ESA method : An approach presented by Jeremy harmer which has three element : 1- Engage 2- study 3-Activate it is appropriate both for teacher and learner Elicitation : is the main part of ESA method in which teacher try to get attention of students by asking their information about what they know and need to know . This method gives the students the opportunity to speak which the result will be increase student talk time and reduction of teacher time For elicitation there are some techniques .1- real objects2-flashcard3-drawing on the board 4-ask for question 5- Gap filling 6- lists7-follow on questions9- concept description10-mime-11- definitions Engage: in this section teach wants to arouse and stimulate the student's interest toward lesson by game, playing music, interesting picture or stories, The aim of this period is warming student and preparing them to think and speak in English and teacher is not going to teach in this phase. Study: in this phase the students are focusing on language and information which they are getting from it and how it is constructed this could be practicing on single sound to practice of verb. Study phase normally stars with elicitation. Teacher should elicit as much as information possible from students. After that, teacher should present the language point and drilling exercise to ensure correct pronunciation. After the language point explained good enough, then teacher give students drill and exercise to check their understanding the material. In the class it is better to check the exercise and remove any difficulties. ACTIVATE: In this stage we encourage students to use the language freely and without any stress and communicatively .the fluency and accuracy is in high priority .activities like role play, debates, communication game , story writing is really worth to perform in the class . ESA elements should present in every lesson and it should start with E( engage) and end with A ( activate)
