This unit looks at the general theories of learning from very early childhood to the time children mature. This unit looks at the learning environment both physically and intellectually, looking at what is best for different activities. Different age groups need different styles of teaching. Younger students need more “fun” and movement, while older student tend to prefer more structured teaching and independent thought processes. L1 (first language) and L2 (second language) should be taught in the same way as L1 is taught first and L2 should be taught the same way. L1 teaching processes are usually the most successful.
