In this unit, I learned how to use case study and frameworking as tools in the teaching process. Then “problem-based learning”, which is similar to but still different from the case study method, is introduced. Despite all those serious tools, games can also be adapted to make the class more interesting and ease the tension of the students. In addition, I also learned how to help students to use Computer-aided Language Learning and associate it with the class. The last theory introduced in this unit is “Speech Act Theory”. It is very theoretical but helpful; teachers need to make this simple to let the student know learning a language is not only about the vocabulary and grammar, but also about the culture and context.
All these methodologies and theories are demonstrated in lesson plans provided in the unit. They are all very detailed and ESA structured.
