In this unit, I learned how to develop a course. Firstly, we have to test the students’ level and conduct a needs analysis in the first meeting. These results will later be needed to design the syllabus. There are different types of syllabuses that teachers can choose based on the students’ needs and levels; for example, student syllabus, the material syllabus, and the organizational syllabus. Then, teachers have to use various tests to measure the efficacy of the program; specific examinations can also help students to evaluate their progress. Last but not least, course evaluations are very important for both teachers and students to improve, so they should always be conducted at the end of the program.
This unit also provides examples and templates for each process which will be very helpful for inexperienced teachers.
