In this unit I learned what a good teacher and good learners are like. A good teacher is kind, patient, motivates the students, and is sensible when correcting them. A good teacher plays many roles in the classroom depending on the activity. These roles include: manager, organizer, assessor, prompter, participant, tutor, facilitator, model, and observer. In order to be a good teacher you have to balance the amount of time teaching from the center and allowing the students to learn on their own and participate. Depending on the age of the student there are different things a teacher must be wary such as a students motivation, nervousness, experience, and behavior. Younger students are less self conscious but have a small knowledge of the L2. Older learners are more motivated but may be more wary of making mistakes. It is a teachers responsibility to keep the students motivated by making their lessons interesting and engaging.
