In the unit, I learned how to deal with common problem situations, for the first lesson, it's vital to establish rapport with students. Experienced teachers will not adopt the course book for the first lesson rather than use fun games like Hangman, memory games, etc. For different levels of students, teachers have the choices to use different materials or the same materials but varied tasks. Or students are allowed to find out their own levels or be divided into pair work. All in all, experienced teachers will adopt a mix of approaches. For the large classes, worksheets and pair work can be used for getting all students participated. Clarity is necessary, choral repetition is suggested. Appoint group leaders can be a good strategy.
