Unit eleven touched on the importance of receptive skills like listening and reading. There are reasons for reading and listening such as for a purpose, for entertainment. Along with the reasons, there are different skills that can be used to further enhance the experience such as predictive skills, scanning, skimming, and looking for detailed information. Each of these can be used in a variety of settings depending on the purpose. Reading and listening can be very difficult and cause problems. Multiple ideas were given to help this issue such as pre-teaching vocabulary and picking interesting topics. I think these ideas are very beneficial because in my opinion a lot of time can be wasted with listening practice. The right steps need to be taken beforehand to ensure success.
