This unit focused on what we would be using in the classroom: course books and lesson materials. I learned that course books must be chosen wisely to fit the needs of the teacher and students. Teachers can omit, replace, supplement, and adapt lesson from the course books to suit the lesson plan. Lesson materials fall into two categories: authentic and created materials. Authentic materials can be used to motivate students as well as give them confidence when they understand them. Created materials are designed by the teacher to supplement or replace materials from the course book. This can include: crosswords, word search puzzles, flash cards, and any other materials that the teacher think will help the students better understand the material.
