This unit touched on the advantages and disadvantages of teaching Business English to groups and individuals, which I felt are somewhat similar to teaching General English, except for the fact that the students are in their professional environment. The possibility that they might behave differently depending on their rank is high from my previous experience. However, this might also be cultural and dependent on where I teach. I witnessed the discomfort between trainees of different ranks during the sessions I have facilitated in Singapore. This is due to a more hierarchical structure in Asia, which might not be as apparent in Europe, where I'm currently based.
This unit also deep-dived into the different teaching styles and theories, which has already been covered at length in my TEFL course. I felt that it was more of a refresher as these are general methodologies that can be applied into any type of English teaching. It would have been great if there is a part to clarify or mention that all of these (or only a few) are more suitable for teaching Business English.
