Past perfect: form (subject+had+ past participle+object) • Action completed before another action. By the time I rang Sara had taken shower. We use auxiliary (had) for negative and interrogative. For example: I hadn’t seen him yet. Had you met Sam? Past perfect continuous: form ( subject+had+been+verb+ing+object) An action that began before a time in the past and continued up until that time with no indication whether or not the action continued beyond that time. By the time I rang Sara had been taking shower for 10 minutes. We use auxiliary (had) for negative and interrogative forms: For example: I hadn’t been talking to him Had you been talking to him?
