While this lesson was pretty short, it required that I review the previous lessons. I learned about materials used in the classroom. Teachers can use authentic materials, which tend to be more interesting for students and boost confidence. I actually prefer to use authentic material in my classes because I believe they are more beneficial for adults. Although, I do not know how I would use them with children. I actually encourage all my adult students to download Twitter and read articles during their downtime to strengthen their reading skills. I also learned about course books, which I am normally really against. Course books are tested and tried syllabuses, so I know they are useful for new teachers. Although, I had a situation where I could not diverge from the course book, and I had a lot of upset students because a lesson we not culturally appropriate for my students. That is why I agreed with this lesson that teachers can use the course books, but they can omit and change as they see needed.
