In this unit, we explore four other basics of Grammar that are often taught in English. Modal verbs, Passive voice, Relative Clauses and Phrasal verbs. To begin with, Modal verbs are used before the main verb to imply a certain thought or to indicate modality. They comprehend 'can' for ability, 'should' for advice, 'must' for obligation, 'may' for politeness and 'need' for necessity. Second, the Passive voice, which is used to show emphasis on the person or objects that experienced the action rather than the doer, and it is basically formed by the auxiliary verb 'be', plus the past participle of the main action verb. As for the relative clause, it is merely an additional information added to the sentence for the purpose of giving a deeper meaning to what is stated. Relative clauses are always introduced by a relative pronounce such as "who", "which", "that", "whose", where", etc. Finally, Phrasal verbs are verbs that are made up of a main verb together with an adverb or a preposition, or both such as "pick up", "figure out" etc. Phrasal verbs usually have a different meaning from the original verb and they are divided to three types: Intransitive phrasal verbs, Transitive separable and Transitive inseparable.
