This lesson focuses on the Productive skills of Writing and Speaking. Writing is typically neglected in TEFL or relegated to homework since teachers do not like to have too much quiet time during lessons. When handling writing lessons one needs to address Handwriting, Punctuation and Layout (exposure to a variety of layouts builds confidence) and Creative Writing which will give students a boost of confidence when they see their final product. Speaking is a skill that requires a great deal more fluency since we typically do not have time to think and plan what we are going to speak. Typically students find it difficult to overcome a peer intimidation, a lack of confidence, lack of interest in the topic or an inherent fear of making mistakes. these can be overcome by creating a safe environment where students feel comfortable to make mistakes and interact with the teacher and other fellow students. Games in the classroom are enjoyed by all age groups and can be used to drive interest and engagement in a lesson/ topic.
