When the lesson is planned, the teacher has a good understanding of what all will need to be covered in the available time;The type of activities as well as the materials and equipment required to suitably address the lesson aims. There is also a clear idea of the end result, i.e. what the students are expected to know by the end of the lesson. This will help build some form of flexibility into the lesson and the teacher can spend less/ more time on phases/ activities depending on student engagement and enthusiasm. Experienced teachers may only require a page of points to be covered while teachers who are just starting out may prefer more detailed formats that will also provide a historical record of each lesson. Additionally doing a self-evaluation helps the teacher address any personal failings/ areas of improvement.
