Teaching needs to be adaptable. Textbooks can be a good base to start from and use especially for beginning teachers. However, not every lesson in a text book will suit all students' needs or interest. It should be supplemented with real life authentic material and student interest. Student levels must be taken into account. Do not use the whole text book from front to back. It is OK to omit some of it but use enough to justify the expense the students have outlayed. Choose a text book carefully.
