This unit reminded me of my time at school and how my teachers interacted with us as a class. Looking back I had an English teacher who spoke in such a mono-tone voice that we as students would quite literally fall asleep. In another instance one teacher would point at us shouting our names as he did so. Yes, this kept us on our toes, but it created a tense of anxiety of which I was no fan.
There are many ways in which teachers can form an environment conducive to learning and in doing so prevent bad behaviour, increase student talk-time, increase the level of understanding of students' when giving instructions and ultimately the success rate of the class.
In conclusion I see that maintaining a healthy relationship with the class is essential. Aspects like tone of voice, inclusion and a welcoming personality will inevitably lead to a lesson students genuinely want to attend.
