In this unit, we have learned about common problems that might happen in classrooms. We must take great importance when presenting the very first lesson in classrooms because the first lesson will establish the ongoing mood and setting of all the classes. Also it is the perfect opportunity to establish a great rapport between the students and the teacher. In the star of every lesson, it is good to have warmers that will encourage the students to be motivated about the lesson for the day. No student would feel motivated if a teacher moves onto the lesson right away. It is hard to maintain a class when the students have mixed levels of English. I have learned that there are few ways to handle such type of classroom. One of them is to pair stronger students with weaker ones because the student who is more knowledgeable could help the weaker student. Large classes can also present a problem to teachers in terms of having all the students participate in a controlled manner. One of the ways to solve such issue is to use worksheets as all students will be participating. In English learning classes it is best to avoid having students use their native language. However, in most cases students will use their native language because they can't understand the material or they are trying to help a peer. Time to time, we will encounter students who aren't motivated. In cases like this, we can use pair work, role plays, controlled practice, and tape recorders. Lastly, many teachers try to avoid listening lessons because they find that it is hard for students to understand most of the times, but it is very important that teachers help students develop their listening skills.
