I found this chapter focused on the four past tenses to be rather challenging. The four tenses include past simple, past perfect, past continuous, and past continuous perfect. Similar to the present tenses, I use them regularly in my speaking without recognizing the usage rules behind them. I never recognized that when using the past perfect tense, you use had + past participle to show an event happened before another action happened in the past. This is usually paired with "when" and "after." I found this chapter to be useful because I recognized errors that some of my students make in their speaking and writing, and now I feel more equipped to correct them in a way that will understand and “stick.”
