This unit primarily focuses on the different types of tests the students will and could take over the course of their English education. In schools a placement test will be given to determine in what level that student should be placed. Once in the class, the students will take a diagnostic test so that the teacher can understand where each student is skillful and where they will need some assistance. This will allow the teacher to better cater each of the lessons towards the helping the students overcome their weaknesses and to prosper. There will be progress testing which will be given intermittently through the semester to see how the students are doing and to help the teacher to better understand their progress. There will be external tests for the students to take, if they choose to. There are many tests to see what level of fluency a student is at, such as the TOEIC or TOEFL. There are also different external locations where students can be tested, such as the Cambridge Assessment or the Trinity College program.
