In this unit, I learned about the different varieties of students I might be teaching, and the different ways I can adapt my teaching methods to fit their needs. In teaching beginners, it is important to be clear, consistent, and patient. Sometimes teachers go too quickly and want to cover too much material for beginners. When it comes to teacher young children, it's important to remember to be silly. Color with them, get on their level, and never use their native tongue. Kids are smart, and if they hear you speak their native tongue, they will think that if they wait long enough, you will eventually resort to speaking to them in their native language. When it comes to business English, don't worry if you don't know the intricacies of business itself. You are not there to teach them how to be businessmen, they already are. You are there to teach them English! Become familiar with the company and be respectful. It is also helpful to create a needs analysis at the beginning of the course to find out what their needs truly are.
