This unit is mainly about the productive skills of speaking and writing and how to engage students properly. Foremost, a teacher must create a need or desire for the students to want to learn. There are many possible ways to encourage learning through controlled, guided, or creative activities. The teacher must be aware of possible pitfalls awaiting students and must equip them with the appropriate foreknowledge necessary to complete the task. When using group work or pair work, the teacher must be careful not to control the creation from the students and only give feedback after the conclusion of the activity. Above all else, the teacher must ensure that every student feels the environment is welcoming and accepting of mistakes. A good atmosphere provides the best efficiency for participation.
