This unit dealt with modal verbs, passive voice, relative clauses and phrasal verbs. It began with an overview of modal verbs, their use and examples, and concluded with teaching ideas for their use in class. Next it looked into the passive voice, giving its usage, typical student errors, and ending with teaching ideas also. After that, the unit dealt with relative clauses and its three categories, focusing especially on relative clauses, with its defining and non-defining clauses. Lastly it looked at the three basic types of phrasal verbs and recommended teaching them based on a subject, which would allow students to learn them more easily. I found the section on relative pronouns (in relative clauses) enlightening, as I had never stopped to analyze whether the relative pronoun was the subject or the object of the verb in that particular clause.
