I definitely struggled in this unit, I wasn't aware of how important pronunciation was. I was unfamiliar with the phonetic alphabet as well. I can see the benefit to it as a foreigner learning English but even for a native speaker, it was difficult. I also learnt the different techniques to teach pronunciation. I also never realized the different uses of stress within a sentence to convey meaning.
