Unit eighteen, the last grammar unit, presents detailed discussions of modal auxiliary verbs and the passive voice. Model auxiliary verbs add meaning to main verbs; each of the frequently used modals is presented in a chart detailing usages, present/future forms and past forms. When using the passive voice, meanwhile, the object of the verb (whatever is acted upon) is the subject of the sentence/clause. Here too, grammatical form and usage are detailed. The unit finishes with more cursory (but nonetheless useful) overviews of phrasal verbs and relative clauses.
