In this unit we discussed teaching in different settings. Teaching beginners can feel daunting but we have many tips in order to feel in control of the class; speak in English only, speak slowly and clearly, be patient and take your time, repeat, etc. Teaching individual classes: suitable activities that are 1-1 like discussions between teacher and student, reading short stories, listening and role plays (telephone conversations, hotel reservations). When teaching children, you may need to change your pitch and exaggerate your intonation. You must be consistent when disciplining and be fair to all students. When teaching Business English, it is very handy to do a Needs Analysis test so that you can prepare your classes properly in order to help facilitate guided and specific learning goals.
