I have learnt the differences between using authentic materials as well as created materials, there are benefits of both, and knowing this means that teachers can structure their lessons by level of students by using either created work designed specifically for those students, or by carefully making use of authentic materials, as they are not graded or designed for ESL use. I now also have a further insight to the advantages and disadvantages of using a coursebook, and while their are certainly many advantages, a teacher should not only rely on a coursebook as it can make a teacher lazy, make lessons boring and predictable and not be structured correctly and make students reluctant to want to use them, to get the most benefit a teacher should use a coursebook as well as add extra material to their lessons.
