Unit 1 provided information and analysis on the basic relationships/dynamics between teachers and learners. It gave a large variety of information on teaching modes, levels of learners, and possible experiences that might occur when engaging with learners at different levels and ages. The biggest learning for me from this unit was the section on language levels (beginners, elementary, low/pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate, advanced). The breakdown of each level also made me consider the goal setting process that teachers might have to adopt while creating material for different ages and classes. It also provided inspiration for me in my own language learning. A key message I have extracted from this unit was regarding being observant and aware of your participants as an educator so that we can continue to provide excellent tools, activities, and learnings. In turn, learners will then have a higher chance of being more motivated to engage with material outside of class time.
