This unit teaches about lesson plans and what is important to consider when planning a lesson. It is important that the lesson plan is to the point and does not go into too much detail about exactly what the teacher will say at all times in the lesson, but more of a summarized, and rather to be easy to glance at during the lesson ad know what should come next. It is important to find out how many students there are and what level their English is, and be prepared to vary your own English when walking into the classroom, for e.g. dumb it down if the level is lower than what you had expected. Important things to note in your lesson plan is what the focus is and what it is you will be teaching and pair it with the best style of lesson (learnt in unit 2 and 4) as well as the order in which you will do things and the time anticipated for each activity. When explaining activities anticipate what could go wrong and mention it when explaining the activity to prevent problems occurring. It is important to balance the teacher and student talk time in the lesson plan, and to vary the types of student talk time, e.g. in pairs, in groups or individual. The most important note to remember throughout lesson planning is to question whether your objective is being carried out in the best way.
