The information for this unit is geared towards the various techniques used by teachers to keep the class flowing in a controlled, yet energetic manner. It starts out by listing the methodologies most commonly known and used by teachers around the globe, these methods allow for the conveying of knowledge in a way that will be most easily absorbed by the student. It is important to keep in mind that different students will react differently to different methods. For example I personally find the Audio- Linguistic method to be rather monotonous and boring as opposed to the other options because it makes use of repetitive drilling, no surprise at all for me to find that this method is not as popular as others. The unit then goes onto describe the method of elicitation, a means used to positively coerce the answer out of the student as opposed to simply telling them directly. After this it goes onto describe the ESA format and the various exercises that can be used at the three different phases. As a teacher I would most enjoy the Activate phase because it is where I will be able to sit back and observe students in order to see the levels of progression with the language. This would be the most informative phase to me personally. Lastly the unit goes over the various means of correction and the difference between mistakes and errors made on the part of the students. This is an important section because it stresses the fragility of the students as they are being corrected. Ultimately you want to be able to have the student correct themselves as this will promote more knowledge than simply telling them they are wrong and giving them the answer.
