Unit One goes over the most basic fundamental parts aspects of teaching, namely the teacher and student relationship. It starts out by detailing the qualities of successful teachers, continuing onto explain the different roles that the teacher assumes throughout the lesson plan. From there it discusses the qualities of a successful student and the different levels of competency that a student can have coming into a course, and how they will consequently act as a result.
Now what grabbed me as most interesting in this Unit was the point of one of the most important roles that a teacher can have to their students is that of the organizer. Now what is so important about this role is that it determines the fluidity of the class. It is essential for the teacher to be able to motivate their students in a manner according to the strengths and weaknesses of a given student. The reason that this role of Organizer stands out from the other roles a teacher must assume is because it contains many of the other roles and qualities of successful teachers within it. For example if we look at the qualities of a successful teacher we will see things like "developing a good rapport with students." Now this is something that we can see contained within being a good organizer because in order to organize your students effectively you must know each of them enough to have a good rapport or standing with them.
