ESA is a very useful guideline both for teaching in an actual class or preparing a lesson plan. ESA is also quite useful for new teachers to follow in order to have a good lesson structure. E stands for Engage, which means that we need to try to arouse students' interests; S stands for Study, which means that we need to teach students new language concepts at this stage; A stands for Activate, which means that we need to teach students how to use the new language concepts learnt effectively and put them into use in real life.
