This unit focused on teaching pronunciation and phonology, which are some of the most difficult and neglected skills to teach in ESL. The pronunciation section focused on intonation, (variation in volume and pitch in a whole sentence) and stress, as in which syllables are usually stressed in a sentence. The phonology section was quite technical, introducing a phonemic symbols chart, a diagram of speech organs, and detailed lists of places and manners of articulation.
