Which universities offer TESOL courses?

For many ESL teachers a standard-level course such as the 120-hour TESOL certification course from ITTT is the only official teaching qualification they ever take. This level of certification will allow you to apply for a wide range of teaching jobs in countries worldwide. Some teachers also add one or more specialized TESOL qualifications to their portfolio in order to further their own understanding and to add more options to their job search. The next step up is an advanced-level certificate such as the Diploma in TESOL that takes an in-depth look at the theory side of teaching. Finally, teachers who want to rise to the very top of the ESL industry often sign up for university-level courses such as a Degree or even a Master’s in TESOL.

Which universities offer these high-end courses?

Depending on the country you are in, there are sure to be multiple options for those teachers who want to take their teaching qualifications to the very highest level. The potential options are truly vast as there are over 25,000 universities worldwide, offering a dazzling array of different courses. The best option is to do a Google search of universities in your area and then check which ones provide a TESOL related course. It is also worth spending some time researching each course and institution to see what previous trainees have to say about their experience of the curriculum and the individual university.

Does ITTT offer any university-level TESOL courses?

Although we do not operate our own university-level courses, we do have a Diploma in TESOL which is an advanced-level course that can be completed entirely online. This course will add real weight to your job applications as it is well-respected among international employers. If you want to take your TESOL qualifications to the very highest level, we are also more than happy to recommend the Paris College of International Education which runs a Bachelor and a Master’s Degree in TESOL. Both of these options are fully online courses that do not require any attendance on campus. Thanks to this self-study schedule you should be able to fit your course around any work, family or other commitments you might have.
