This unit covers teaching special types of groups. These can include complete beginners, children, business english classes, one on one students, monolingual and multilingual. Each of these groups require different types of teaching. For example when teaching complete beginners the teacher must keep things clear and move at a slower pace in order for students to keep their confidence. With children the lesson should be lively and fun in order to keep their motivation as children can become bored easily and lack motivation. Business english can be adapted to the requirements of the clients need to learn english, ie greetings or giving presentations but can also have the issue of different levels of language and care needs to be taken to ensure the lessons are beneficial to both the more experienced and those with less experience. One one on teaching obviously focuses on the students needs but it can lack the classroom environment and speaking work which would take place in a classroom. There are benefits to teaching multiligual students as english is their only common language and it offers a range of cultures to use in discussions. Monoligual classes can have the problems of students reverting back to the native language. Though these are all specialist areas and the needs vary all classes need to be kept motivational and interesting for the student.
