This unit is about the productive skills- speaking and writing skills. The reason why people often speak to each other is because the need or desire something. If we take a look at the differences between accuracy and fluency, we will find that accuracy is about the correct usage of grammar, and usually covered in the study phase. In the other hand, fluency is about possessing the ability to keep talking without stopping to think, and usually covered in the activate phase. Both fluency and accuracy are equally important. Speaking activities generally covered the following form; controlled activity, often used in the study phase, guided activity, can be used for either the study or activate phases. And then the creative activity which is usually used in the activate phase. It’s important to makes sure that the followings are in place before we ask the students to start them: the desire and need, having the language knowledge, and putting them in pairs. As a teacher, before the lesson takes place you need to what you want the students to do and they need to know why, predict what they know and what problems they might have, and then you should make sure you have the materials and instructions ready. For writing, there are some skills that the unit covered. They are handwriting skills, spelling, and punctuation.
