I think this lesson helps teachers feel more confident about changing things up from what is spelled out to teach in the books. Sometimes, you may feel like you really should be sticking to the book all of the time but this lesson explains that there are a lot of ways to teach a lesson and the book is just one of them. I think most teachers use the book as a guideline and then based on what types of students they have they will pull things from current events, their own lives...etc to make each lesson the most interesting it can be.
